Alisa Unger: CEO Alisa Unger Designs

alisa-ungerAlisa Unger, chief executive officer of Alisa Unger Designs/B&N Jewelry, is a seasoned professional in the jewelry business.

Alisa’s history in the industry dates back to her childhood where her parents owned and operated Gem Jewelers in her hometown of Lakeland, Florida. A small town independent jeweler, she spent her youth behind the counter-watching customers and studying the needs and desires. She would also draw jewelry designs onto napkins when times were slow in the store.

“I design practical fashion jewelry for women and moms to wear everyday to feel great about themselves” -Alisa Unger

After graduating from the University of South Florida, Alisa found her husband while working in the jewelry business. It took seventeen years to turn Alisa’s napkin drawings from her youth into models. As a surprise for Alisa’s birthday, her husband, Jeff Unger, found her drawings and had them made into models, cast and set with diamonds. Alisa’s first designs were now out in the open with her first showing at the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) tradeshow in Palm Springs, CA the spring of 2003. The pieces quickly became popular with the retail jewelers from IJO. Today, her collection has grown from the original five styles to over 205 designs.

Being a mother of two and raised in a small town helped Alisa design jewelry that fulfils her two requirements, fashion and affordability. “Designer jewelry should be both fashionable and affordable to everyone,” states Alisa. I saw too many customers walk out of my mother’s store unable to buy the pieces they desired because of price. I want to have something in my line for everyone. Every woman and mom should feel great about themselves. There is no better way than a piece of jewelry.”
