Getting Fit for Formalwear

Guys, next to the bride you should be the second most gorgeous person at your wedding!
With the stress of planning this extravagant soiree it’s easy to sip a few to many beers and eat a variety of junk food. Getting fitted for your tux is all about proportion, if your shoulders are broad and your middle is broader the jacket will just hang on you. Likewise the waistline of the trousers may fit but the width in the pantleg will be baggy. Getting in shape isn’t always easy but is necessary to look and feel your best on the biggest day of your life.
Personal Trainer, Brian Lett offers some real common sense tips to getting fit:
- Visualize your goals. Think of them in your mind as stair steps and the steps are the way to get there one day at a time.
- Set a time frame for your goals. Evaluate them every couple of weeks. Positive focus is also important, see yourself in the shape you want to be in.
- Consistency is the key. It takes about 28 days to break bad habits, replace those with new good habits such as eating less carbs and more protein and form an exercise regiment.
- Make your environment food-safe. This means getting all foods that are bad for you out of the house. Out of sight out of mind.
- Sign up at a gym or with a personal trainer. You will need people around you that are going to support your fitness efforts. A personal trainer can work one on one and help you realize your goals.
- Understand that even with the best of intentions, set backs do occur. If you experience a setback just do better the next time. Focus on the positive changes you have made in your life and the physical changes will take care of themselves. Don’t allow your setbacks to make you give up altogether continue to move forward.
- Be sure to keep good records in your fitness journey. Records may take the form of meal recording or exercise progression. Having these records will allow you to look back at all the progress you have made.
Becoming fit is a lifestyle change for the better, as healthy foods nourish the body rather than toxifying and exercise reduces stress levels. So eat, drink and be merry but in a good way.
